Morning Flight

Description
I always have the best encounters with birds in the early morning hours before the noise of the world begins. I wouldn't call myself a bird watcher by any means, but their movements and flight have always been fascinating and amusing to me. During an early morning excursion on a family trip to Galveston, TX, I got up too early for a vacation and walked over to the shoreline to sit in the sand to see the sunrise. There I sat, waiting and watching. It was still and quiet, with only the steady cadence of the ocean waves stirring around, and then, a small seagull squawk broke the silence. I watched this gull patrol the shallows back and forth, searching for its morning meal. A few times it would dive down at something with no success, but back it went, unfettered by the failed attempts, always continuing the search. A good metaphor for life, I suppose. I captured this seagull in mid-flight on one of his low passes across the shallows. A beautiful moment frozen in time and a good reminder to keep patrolling for that catch you're after.
