Description
A curious white-crowned sparrow that liked to hang around the camp during the cold mornings on our trip to Palo Duro Canyon in West Texas. I would get up early each morning before the rest of our group and make coffee over my small backpacking stove. The air was crisp and it was quiet except for the flutters from this cheeky little guy. He would hop over from his perch on a nearby thorn bush, cock his head back and forth trying to figure out what I was up to, then flush back to his perch. We had a fun little bond by the end of the trip, little sparrow and I. I think back to those quiet moments every time I see this photo on my wall.
